The magic of Christmas is also to be found under the coconut trees! In the run-up to the festive season, a large craft market is held at the Parc Expo Mama'o in Papeete for the Salon de Noël. It's the perfect time to shop for gifts for the 25th: after all, Santa deserves a little warmth! Twenty or so local artisans offer their creations in a variety of fields: traditional jewelry, basketry, tīfaifai, ready-to-wear, sculpture and more. Creative workshops are also offered to introduce visitors to local crafts.
