Timetable
Local stores and large shopping malls are open every day and close around 9pm.
Budget & Tips
Except for the luxury shops, prices are rather cheap. Prefer stores that display their prices (except for what is paid by weight). Payment is by cash or card if the store is equipped with a machine.
Sales
They correspond more or less to those we have in France. Often, the stores have a small promotion corner throughout the year. The day of the black friday, we can also have interesting reductions.
What's very local
If you go to the Grand Bazaar or the Egyptian Bazaar, don't hesitate to haggle, it is the custom. For the products to buy on the spot, we think obviously of the carpets, it should be known that the purchase of a quality carpet is a real investment, it is thus necessary to inquire before buying. Leather is also of good quality but prices remain high, even in Turkey. There are of course sweets: baklavas, loukoums... and spices. Finally, the nazar boncuk (blue glass eye), in addition to protecting from the evil eye, is a very good idea for a typical and cheap gift.
Tourist traps
You will see in the street, on the sidewalks and even in the Grand Bazaar, street vendors offering big brands at low prices. Of course, these are counterfeit products, so don't forget that this is forbidden and punished by law.
