Abdülaziz had it built in 1871 by the Italian architect Montini, for his mother, Sultan Pertevniyal. Overloaded with ornaments, the walls are covered, inside and outside, with calligraphy and various motifs. The prayer room is overhung by a dome with 16 windows. The Imperial Lodge is located above the entrance, while the mausoleum where the Sultan Mother rests has been placed near the entrance door of the courtyard.
