OUR LADY OF SALMATOMRUK CHURCH

This church was rebuilt in 1834 to replace an older building destroyed by fire. Some structures have been preserved and date from the Byzantine period, but the general appearance is more recent. The church is richly decorated with icons, the ones on the right as you enter are the most interesting for their age and subjects. Two ayazma (or sacred springs) are located in the sanctuary. It is a good example of a neighbourhood church that is still in operation.
