The clubs and nightclubs start to come alive from 11pm onwards, before they operate as bars. They stay open, in general, until 5am. Some places are only open on Friday and Saturday nights.
Some clubs do not charge admission, but others charge a fee. Alcohol is often more expensive than in bars. Taxes are included in the price. You can leave a tip if you wish, about 5 to 10% of the bill. You can pay by card or cash.
The last metro is at midnight. You can find a cab at any time of the night or take a dolmuş (inexpensive collective cab) that runs all night and whose main routes are: Beşiktaş-Taksim; Taksim- Bakırköy; Sariyer- Beşiktaş; Üsküdar-Kadıköy.
Generally there is no particular dress code except for the more select places, where the bouncers are more careful.
Even though smoking is prohibited in public places, some clubs allow their customers to smoke.
