Built in the 4th century in Constantinople by Constantine I to make New Rome the capital, the Milion Stone is the zero point from which the distances between the cities of the Byzantine Empire were calculated, as they were in Rome at the same time. If the building resisted the conquest of 1453, it disappeared a few decades later. Square in shape and surmounted by a dome, this monument typically represented the architecture of the Eastern Roman Empire, today there is only a remnant of a marble column.
