It dates back to the emperor Hadrian (117-138). On the other hand, its name comes from the time of Governor Hacı Izzet Paşa who, in 1886, decided to add a wooden frame equipped with a clock from France. It will undergo a remodeling in stone in 1894, reaching then 48 m in height. It will meet various needs, such as that of watching for fires. Seriously damaged during the earthquake of 1953, it will be abandoned to its fate.
