GREEN MOSQUE (YEŞIL CAMII)

Built in the 14th century during the reign of Sultan Murat I, the Yeşil Camii stands opposite the museum in a square covered in greenery. In typical Seljuk style, the mosque was originally decorated with beautiful green earthenware from the city's workshops and evoking neighboring Persia, earning it the name "Green Mosque." Its beautiful minaret has also prefigured the development of the art of earthenware very specific to Iznik.
