The Schirmeck Museum is the place to go to find out all about the history of Alsace-Moselle.

A place of remembrance, history and education, the Alsace-Moselle Memorial is housed in a superb 3,000m2 building. Its scenography highlights a complex period in the history of this region, which was torn between France and Germany from 1870 to the end of the Second World War. The visit (approx. 2 hours) is like being immersed in history, with a wealth of images, posters, photos and other reconstructed settings, and an original sound system. A unique and memorable experience on the history of the region.

Sehr gut präsentierte Ausstellung der Gedenkstätte. Besonders wichtig für Jugendliche, die hier erleben können welche Grauen es gab, mit traumatischen Folgen über Generationen. Sie verstehen anschaulich, dass solche Konflikte nie wieder geschehen dürfen und jeden Anfängen zu trotzen ist. Jede Schulklasse die in der Region ist, sollte es besuchen.

Magnifique Mémorial. La visite est bien construite et le parcours est clair. Chaque pièce est différente et amène un regard intéressant sur l’histoire des habitants de la région. Les panneaux d’informations ne sont pas trop remplis donc agréables à lire. C’est la première fois que je passe autant de temps dans un musée par moi-même! En bonus, il y a un point de vue à l’extérieur qui vaut le détour. On y voit même le mémorial situé au camp de concentration de Natzweiler-Struthof, ça amène une belle perspective au site.
Seul petit bémol, parfois les audios des vidéos étaient difficiles à comprendre à cause de leur volume.
Je recommande certainement la visite du site.
