ALAEDDIN CAMII
The oldest mosque in the city was designed by an architect from Damascus, in an Arabic style, and then restored over time, incorporating elements from other cultures. Byzantine or Roman fragments can be seen on the magnificent original entrance. Its construction (1130-1221) was ordered for Alaeddin Keykubad. Inside there is a series of 41 ancient columns topped with Roman and Byzantine capitals arranged along the slope of the hill. In the courtyard, two türbe contain the remains of eight rulers of the Seljuk dynasty.
