In the Artvin area, there are many religious complexes to see. Get a map from the town's tourist office and ask the locals for information before heading out on the mountain roads, which are often in poor condition. The Dolishane church (10th century), near Artvin, is superb. Also worth seeing: the Georgian monastery and church of Porta (10th century) next to Pınarlı, the church of Yeni Rabat next to Bulanık, or the church of Tbeti or Cevisli Kilesesi (10th century) in the heart of the yaylalar (mountain plateaus) near Veliköy.
