SALT MUSEUM (STALNA IZLOŽBA SOLARSTVA)
Museum of salt in Pag with many salt mines that provided important income to the population. Old warehouses to visit.
From the 15th century onwards, the Republic of Venice took an interest in the island's natural resources, particularly salt. Pag was home to numerous salt works, which contributed to its enrichment. At the time, Zadar and Rab were battling with the Serenissima for possession of this raw material worth its weight in gold. Salt, so coveted, provided a comfortable income for the local population. A piece of local history that can be discovered in the old warehouses.
