BAY OF TELAŠĆICA
Bay part of a natural park with high cliffs and Lake Mir, a saltwater lake visited in summer.
Particularly deep and wooded, the Bay of Telašćica is classified as a nature park. The surrounding land forms cliffs some 100 meters high in places. In stormy weather, they provide refuge for boats and have always featured on navigators' charts. Twenty-five small bays and five islands create a marine geography particularly suited to yachting.
An inland island road leads from the port of Sali up through the scrubland to the first bay (Magrovica). From here, paths criss-cross the nature park, and from the road, breathtaking views of the Strmac cliffs.
Lake Mir. These vertiginous rock faces have given rise to another spectacular natural phenomenon: Lake Mir, an expanse of salt water whose level rises and falls with the tides. From the parking lot, follow the trail for around 1.5 km. It's an ideal spot for photos and swimming is permitted, but the lake water is often murky. The site is often invaded by groups of tourists because the water temperature is 4-5 degrees higher than that of the sea, which detracts from the charm of the place. If you prefer a more leisurely pace, continue past the lake and walk for around 15 minutes to the bay of Lojišće, where you'll find a white sandy beach ideal for swimming.
To access the nature park by boat, enquire and purchase the entrance ticket from the Adamo incoming agency (Sali harbor).
