Bord zonder opsmuk. Puur lekker

It was our first day in Split and we were spontaneously looking for a restaurant for dinner. The restaurant looked very cosy. We asked the waiter if we could sit at any table outside. There were not many tables as the restaurant is relatively small. We chose a table and waited for the waiter to bring us the menu. We waited and waited and watched as a waiter poured wine for the fourth time at the next table and talked at length with the guests. On a normal evening, we would have just got up and left. But since it was already relatively late and we were hungry, we stayed and waited. After about 20 minutes, a waiter asked us if we had already ordered. I looked at him crossly and said "no"!
A younger waiter brought the menu and apologised. We wanted to order a bottle of Prosecco to drink and the waiter told us the type was no longer available but he would bring us something similar. When we got the bill, it turned out to be the most expensive bottle of Prosecco for 75€ !!!! The food was not cheap either and the portions were very small. When I collected the money, I expressed my displeasure and did not give a tip. For me, the restaurant is a tourist trap that we unfortunately fell for.

The staff was very polite, welcoming and helpful, and we got properly introduced to their menu offerings. Always alert and happy to help out with any requests.

The food was simply delicious, and although the menu was a bit reduced due to the seasonality, we still had a great dinner.

Nice and cozy atmosphere.

We've been in Split for two days and were so fortunate to stumble over this nice place on the first evening. The food was exceptional and our waiter was very very knowledgeable with regard to wine and also the products the kitchen used. We had two great evenings with wonderful food and great wines and want to thank all the staff for their great efforts. The restaurant lies in the heart of Splits old town in a nice little street and is a very nice place a bit away from all the crowded places.

Personnel correct.

The best restaurant in Split old town! Ask for Tomo. Great guy with great knowledge of the area and wines.

It is a lovely place, private, removed from the main path and yet still surrounded by history.

The cocktails were well made, the mexican paradise had the right amount of smoke from the mescal and Wild Thing was a lovely blend of gin with yuku, apple and absinth

Food wise, I went for monkfish cheeks and chips (a potato cake in reality) with various sauces. My partner had the tuna steak

Both were well balanced and well cooked, seasoning was spot on.

To follow we opted for the chocolate cake and the baklava.

The chocolate cake was sumptuous, deep chocolate with a nice cut of strawberry puree.

However, the baklava was stunning.

This place is a must visit. Clearly run by a great team and talented chefs

Great service and the best Tacada (fish stew) I have ever had. And I don’t say that lightly.

Great food and great service. So glad we checked it out!

Dessert 2 choices only. Waiter recommended not touching one of them so tiramisu was very small and unappealing, coffee (espresso) bitter

The food at Mazzgoon is SO GOOD. We had the rabbit ragout and chicken pate. A couple critiques would be slow service, small wine pours and loud (country?) music.

A bientôt.
