PROKURATIVE (PROCURATIES)
Beautiful square in Split flanked by a series of arcades and a neo-Renaissance colonnade with classical stylistic influences.
This superb square to the west of the riva is a perfect rectangle, bordered on three sides by buildings with colourful facades. Open on the south side to the quays, the square is flanked by a series of neo-Renaissance arches and colonnades that recall classical stylistic influences. Its construction began in the middle of the 19th century, on the initiative of Antonio Bajamonti, one of the city's benefactor mayors and art lovers, who wanted to show the Italian taste of Split.
