This is definitely one of the best meals we’ve had in our two weeks in Croatia.
I started with the monkfish carpaccio with capers and my partner had the warm tomato tart. Both were excellent.
We followed with the saffron prawn risotto which, while ostensibly a starter, was enough to share, certainly once supplemented with a simple side salad.
The wine was a bottle of Bogdanjuša, which paired with all dishes beautifully.
An upscale delicious menu without an unanticipated price tag. We loved seeing the “before and after” of our fresh fish as well. Martin was our BEST server to date since our time in Croatia; he was so attentive and kind.
Waited a long time for our food and when it came - the risotto was under cooked. They did offer to make another plate but we had already waited an hour between the appetizer and the entre and it was almost 11pm. The ambience is nice, the service is okay. When we got the bill they charged us for some stuff we did not get. Mind you when they give you bread and olive oil as if it’s free they actually charge you for it at the end.
Celebrated a 40th birthday here with a very large group, the staff were extremely helpful on the lead up to the event with planning and organizing a set menu. Staff were very friendly and accommodating on the night despite having to deal with such a loud noisy group! Thank you so much for a lovely meal food was amazing!
I don’t give out many five stars, but I have been to Hvar twice and both times made the correct decision to eat at Gaixa multiple times. It is by far the best meal I have had on the island.
Fresh ingredients, great service, and a beautiful audience. Ask to be in the courtyard, you won’t regret it.
Exceptional restaurant! Every aspect, from the cuisine and the service to the ambiance, was flawless. The terrace is charmingly cozy, and their risotto is truly extraordinary.
I have had the pleasure of dining here with my wife 3 times. The setting is absolutely beautiful and try to make a reservation for the tables in the alley. The food is absolutely nothing but AMAZING! We have tried multiple starters and the fantastic waitress recommended us to try the monkfish which was extremely delicious. For main we have tried the signature lobster dish ( highly recommend) , the seabass beurre blanc ( very beautiful plate!) And tuna steak. Gaixa also has a great wine menu and the local rose is super tasty. Aside from the amazing cuisine we can highly recommend visiting Gaixa for the outstanding service. Our waitress would go beyond to ensure us having a great diner and she is super knowledable and delivers the best service we have experienced in Croatia. Make your reservation and you will have a fantastic time!!!!!
The worst service among the restaurants tried at Hvar: rude, not kind and inattentive (e.g. the lady was never served first). The bad service is not compensated by the location and food which are okay, but not up to par with other restaurants in Hvar at the same price.
I went there with my friends for a holiday and we ordered "spaghetti with lobster 100gr" from the menu costing €14.
To our question if the lobster was right, the answer was yes and taking advantage of our young age (24 years) and the lack of knowledge of the language, among the laughter of the waiters we get a huge plate in which there are only lobsters and a little pasta .
Unfortunately due to the embarrassment we didn't know what to reply but I advise you to be very specific with the waiters because our bill was well over €14.
Be careful they rip you off!
