KONOBA BAKO
Overlooking Pod Kalafota beach, the fisherman's tavern boasts a superb terrace with a breathtaking view of the bay.
Overlooking Pod Kalafota beach, the tavern's terrace boasts a breathtaking view of the bay. Don't forget to reserve a table by the water. The dining room is filled with photos and archaeological artifacts that recall the history of Komiža's fishermen. In the kitchen, you can prepare sardine rillette, lobster soup from the fish tank, fish and vegetables marinated in olive oil and seasonings (capers, bay leaves, rosemary) and then grilled, octopus in red wine goulash style, etc., but prices by weight for seafood specialties are high.

The pricing of meat and fish by the gram left us in the dark about costs. What added to the disappointment was that when we ordered our main courses, they casually asked, "Which side would you like? Salad? Fries?" We chose sides, assuming they were complimentary or reasonably priced add-ons. To our surprise, each side cost an additional 9€, undisclosed during ordering.
To top it off, the final bill for 2 main courses and 2 glasses of wine was a staggering 84 € . Transparency and honesty are crucial in the hospitality industry, and this experience left us deeply dissatisfied. We won't be returning during our holidays, and we caution others to be wary.
