VELA SPILA CAVE
Prehistoric cave overlooking the bay and Vela Luka containing traces of human life in the Paleolithic and Neolithic.
To the east of Vela Luka, a 30-minute walk from the port, is a natural site of great importance for the history of settlement in the region. There is a prehistoric cave, open to the air, which overlooks the bay and the town at a height of 130 meters. Traces of human life dating back to the Pre-Neolithic and Neolithic periods have been found there. The objects of the successive archaeological excavations, including two human skeletons, are exhibited in the municipal museum, which is located in the courtyard of the parish church of Saint-Jean
