THÉÂTRE MARIN DRŽIĆ
This beautiful Italian-style theatre has a capacity of 250 seats. Its construction does not date back to the time of Marin Držić, the Croatian Shakespeare, because in his time, open-air performances were held near the rector's palace. It was built during the Austrian monarchy in 1865. Today, a local troupe performs plays from the Croatian and international repertoire there. French playwrights such as Anouilh or Genet are regularly staged, in Croatian, but also contemporary dance, performances with music (more accessible if you don't speak the language).
