While in winter Dubrovnik may seem a rather empty city, at Christmas it comes alive again with hundreds, if not thousands of people walking around the city walls. There is of course the solemn mass, but also the Christmas market, organized along the Stradun and near the Pile gate, the carols, the mulled wine and many other activities. Finally, it is traditional to prepare bakalar, the dried cod, for which there are several recipes here. To taste absolutely!
