Baroque church designed by the Italian architect Andrea Pozzo with frescoes in trompe l'oeil and Jesuit pictorial style.
On the south side of the market square, a monumental staircase, dating from 1738, leads to the imposing baroque church Sveti Ignacija, which was designed by the Italian architect Andrea Pozzo in 1725. The church was inspired by the floor plans of the famous Chiesa del Gesù in Rome (1584). Its interior frescoes, the work of the Sicilian Gaetano Garcia, are composed of trompe l'oeil and perfectly represent the Jesuit pictorial style, all in airy lightness. A remarkable building.
