BOKAR TOWER (TVRĐAVA BOKAR)
Tower overhanging the sea used to protect the access to the Pile gate which became the place of theatrical shows during the summer festival.
At the western end of the city on the ramparts, the Bokar Tower protected the access to the Pile Gate and its bridge. Overlooking the sea (and a small beach), this round fortress was built according to the plans of Michelozzo Michelozzi between 1461 and 1570. Many cannons of the period are still preserved there. Today, the tower is one of the places used by the Dubrovnik Summer Festival for its theatrical performances. The access to the tower is through the ramparts.
