OLD PORT (STARA LUKA)
Old harbor and former shipyard in the southeast of Dubrovnik's old town offers an ideal setting for a walk.
Also known as gradska luka, Ragusa's old port, located to the south-east of the old town, is not lacking in charm. Formerly a major port and shipyard of the Republic of Ragusa, today it's a pleasant place for strolling (and even swimming, for some), which has reduced its sail (yachtsmen, fishermen and the boat to Lokrum still drop anchor here). It once included an arsenal (today's Gradska kavana ), and its Kaše breakwater is still in place. The harbor promenade, Porporela, was built by the Habsburgs in 1873.
