The ramparts are certainly the first building to visit in the old Dubrovnik. Built between the th and th centuries, the walls protected the city for hundreds of years. They encircled the entire old town with their 1940 m long. The book is impressive: walls, incredibly conserved, can be 25 m high and up to 6 m thick. The walls of the city have an inner part and an external part. The first part forms a smaller enclosure with ten semicircular bastions built by the famous Florentine architect Michelozzo Michelozzi. The second part has five bastions, three circular towers and twelve square or rectangular towers, as well as a huge fortress, the Fort Sveti Ivan (Saint John) on the port. From the top of the ramparts you will have a fantastic view of the old town.

Nous avons fait cette visite en septembre. Pas autant de monde qu'en plein mois d'été mais bien penser à prendre casquettes lunettes de soleil et crème solaire car le soleil est bien présent et ça chauffe d'autant plus tout en haut des remparts.
