Exhibition gallery dedicated to photojournalism and war photography, where the museography highlights the work of reporters.

Inaugurated in 2003 by New Zealand photographer Wade Goddard, the large War Photo Limited gallery is located in the heart of the city, in one of the alleyways off the Stradun. Spanning two floors, this exhibition space, entirely dedicated to photojournalism and war reporting, showcases the artistic work of international photographers and their diverse journalistic coverage. The museography focuses on the viewpoints of these professional photographers, who have provided poignant testimony to the global conflicts of recent decades. Set up on the second floor and renewed two or three times a year, the temporary exhibitions have shown series taken in the Gaza Strip, during the confrontations in Iran and Iraq, in Lebanon, during the war in Syria and the migratory crisis it provoked on the "Balkan route", in Africa and in Ukraine.
On the second floor, the permanent exhibition focuses on the last war in former Yugoslavia (1991-1999) and the siege of Dubrovnik. Famous photographs by Ron Haviv, Alexandra Boulat, Emmanuel Ortiz and Paul Lowe are on display. As mentioned by the curators, the aim of this exhibition is to explain what happened in the city and to show the absurdity of war, without following any political agenda. A must-see, but sensitive souls are advised to abstain.

At the entrance, in the souvenir store, you can buy limited edition photo prints and monographic books.

One of the most interesting museums I’ve ever visited. You get a booklet which takes you through each photography, really weaves an interesting/heartbreaking story for those eager to learn more about the breakup of Yugoslavia.

Theses photos.. Just wow. Some of the most real photos I've seen. Some are quite grafic/potentially upsetting but don't let this put you off this musuem is a must.

It’s a gem if your heart can stand it. Obviously difficult to write “positive” review about pictures because of the subject. I can only point out that the exhibition itself is very well organized. Rest is up to you…

A thought provoking place to visit and learn about the tragedy and futility of wars. It makes you wonder if we will ever learn .
