RUE RADIĆEVA
Go there and contact
Between Gradec and Kaptol, Radićeva Street (Cordiers in French) is one of the historical axes giving an idea of the medieval past of the old town. Go back to the Porte en Pierre (Kamenita Vrata), which, as evidenced by an explanatory stone plaque, was rebuilt in the eighteenth century after the terrible fire that destroyed all its wooden parts. In a surrounding chapel, a portrait of the Madonna to the Child, the only rescued of fire, is now exposed in a sanctuary and is still being cultured. On August 15, many Christians come to express their wishes and table offerings.
A statue of Dora Krupićeva, daughter of the goldsmith in August Šenoa's novel, Zlatarevo Zlato (Gold of Orfèvres), is located in the west façade of the door. A picaresque novel that tells the story of Gradec in the eighteenth century. At the end of the street lies the square Illyrienne (Ilirski Trg), where the Jurevska and Demetrova streets come together. A little higher, a neo-Gothic chapel was built by Hermann Bollé during the construction of the ramparts. At the foot of the square priest tower, you will find a pleasant coffee.
