Franciscan monastery in the center of the village with a huge tin sarcophagus and two beautiful monuments.

From their name in Croatian Franjevacki Smostan/Sv. Marija. In the centre of the village, the Franciscan monastery was founded in the 17th century by Nikola Erdödy and Ban Sigismund during the Baroque period. Nearby, you will find the communal church, built at the same time. The latter houses a huge tin sarcophagus, where the body of the founder of the community rests. Two beautiful historical monuments to discover during your visit to Klanjec.
