PEASANT REVOLT MUSEUM
Museum in the castle in Gornja Stubica telling about the daily life in the time of the nobility and serfs of the region.
Housed in the château, built in 1756, the museum retraces the daily life of the region's nobility and serfs. Part of the collection is dedicated to the peasant uprising of 1573. This revolt began on these lands as the country was fighting against the Ottoman army. Led by Matija Gubec, a local boy, the ruined and starving men attacked the landowners. Over 6,000 peasants were hanged in public. And Gubec was executed.
