J. J. STROSSMAYER MUSEUM
Episcopal museum palace built in late Baroque style that houses works of the naive painter Ivan Croata and Antun Bauer.
At the request of the bishops in power between 1750 and 1830, this episcopal palace was built in late Baroque style near the cathedral. The memory of J. J. Strossmayer, one of the region's great bishops, deserved a museum! It was inaugurated in this palace in April 1992, in the midst of the war. The religious authorities wanted to provide a cultural response to the devastation. On view: the bishop's personal objects and writings, works by the naive painter Ivan Lacković Croata, Zdravko Cosić, Đuro Adžić, Ivan Tuna Jakić, Albina Jakić and Antun Bauer.
