Greek cuisine in a traditional bistro located in the historic centre of Athens with a beautiful view of Plaka and the Acropolis.

One of the oldest kafeneio in Athens: this beautiful traditional bistro, founded in 1839 by the Italian Santo, is located in the heart of the historic centre. On the second floor you can enjoy a panoramic view of Plaka and the Acropolis. You can opt for a table on the balcony or on the terrace, if you want to have a view of the lively square. Excellent choice for a "Greek" coffee break, prepared the old fashioned way, on warm sand, accompanied by a loukoum. You can enjoy Greek specialties or just a drink.

We had the Greek pizza and it was very good. We ordered one and shared between 2 people. It was plenty for us. I rated the Atmosphere 3 stars because where we were initially seated outside was on a slope and not very comfortable, there was no umbrella/cover and the Sycamore tree over us was shedding pretty heavily on to the table/plates. To top it off, I got pooped on by a bird. At that point, asked to be moved to another outside table, which they did. I get the perils of outside dining but most of the sidewalk cafes in this area provided better cover for their tables. I would definitely eat here again, but would be selective about our table :).

A veeery old restaurant in centre, worth a visit for its decor alone. Food nothing different or v special, but Id choose it for a hot meal rather than a quick kebab. Outdoor garden setting, v uncomfortable chairs, balcony 1st floor sitting also

Atmosphere was ok. The food was really bad. We ordered the souvlaki and it was dry like rubber with no flavour. There are much better restaurants around Athens. Walk a little further away from the square and the choices are much better while being better priced
