The hotel is located at the worst possible location, way too many homeless people, garbage all over the place... That is somehow understandable due to the difficult situation Greece is having; however it is inconceivable that they don't have any security there... NO ONE! You are basically all by yourself.
On April 2024, we were picking up our luggage and someone from outside came in and took my wife's backpack where we had all of our passports.
When they showed me the surveillance cameras, you can actually see the moment where the Albanian homeless takes the backpack and the guy from the front desk walks into him just to ask him if he needed something. But when me wife came back to ask for the backpack, the response was that someone just took it. To be clear, I know the guy is from Albania because at the end of the day, tI managed to catch the thief with the help of the police, following them with the "Find my Iphone" app, but the passports were already gone.
After that, the hotel provided some help with the international calls and calling the police, but after other than that... nothing. They took CERO responsibility; they even said that there was nothing they can do because the lobby is a public space. They said that they couldn't help us with a room, and that they will not pay for any other hotel... So there were we, with a 4 year old daughter, in the wild.
My wife wrote the next day to Melia International, and the response was that they provided all the help and that we decided to stay, even after advising that the Tourist Police could give us a paper to leave the country (which by the way, is not true).

The hotel is fully advertised as having an amazing rooftop terrace and view on the Acropolis. Result: terrace closed for renovation during our stay... no mention whatsoever on the Melia website while booking our stay nor a separate email to pre-inform us about this situation. I am glad I also asked otherwise I would not have been informed by the reception... The so long-waited drink with view on the Acropolis will not be here... This is clearly a misleading practice!
Passed this disappointment, you head toward the room. A bit old fashion with view on an old building (i.e. no view on the Acropolis as per the above!) but pretty spacious and with correct amenities. Comes here the second surprise: not a single bottle of water offered when you arrive... This is obviously and frankly speaking a tiny little detail I know but 1) this is the tiny little attention you would expect in a 4-star hotel and 2) with a bottle of water (0.5L) in the minibar at 3€ the bottle (!!!), 1 bottle offered will not harm the hotel chain I believe. Let's not forget, you pay the price of a 4-star hotel...
Summary: despite the nice location of the hotel and kindness of the staff on-site, never again! This also comes after a huge disappointment following another stay at another Melia hotel/resort which means cancellation of my MeliaRewards account and no stay in this chain anymore...
En fin, tiene sus cosas buenas y sus cosas malas.
Beds were uncomfortable,
Room view was bad
