The University of Athens, founded in 1837, was housed for over a century in the magnificent neoclassical building on rue Panépistimiou, built in 1841. Today, the building houses only the administrative services, as well as a pretty boutique offering a selection of gifts to give or treat yourself: silk scarves, jewelry and other objects featuring the institution's emblem, the goddess Athena. There's something for everyone. A second outlet is located a little further along, at 33 rue Akadimias.
