On November 17, every year, a big commemoration takes place at the Polytechnic of Athens. On this date in 1973, students and several citizens occupied the University and revolted against the dictatorship of the Colonels. Tanks entered the institution and crushed several students. Since then, flowers have been laid in the grounds of the Polytechnic and, for three days, demonstrations and conferences have been organized.
