On Labor Day, the Greeks escape into nature to pick the first daisies of the year.
Like everywhere else in the world, Labor Day is celebrated in Greece on May1st. It is a public holiday and an opportunity to end the day, after having demonstrated, with an escapade in the countryside. It is customary to create a wreath with the first daisies that grow at this time, which are then hung above the entrance doors or on the balconies. In Athens and its surroundings, it is the time of the floral exhibitions. Among them, the one of Pedion tou Areos (Field of Mars), and the one that takes place in Kifissia.
