AMBASSADE DE GRÈCE
The French Embassy was established in Greece in 1896. Since then, it has been housed in this magnificent building, designed by A. Metaxas, which cannot be missed during a visit to Syntagma. Purchased in 1914 by the French state, it was originally named the Merlin de Douai Hotel, in honour of a French revolutionary who was the ancestor of the building's first owner, Ch. Merlin. The building was renovated in 1990 by the French architect Christian Duval. Do not miss to consult the Embassy's website: a mine of information in French about Greece.
