MONUMENT OF THE UNKNOWN SOLDIER
Monument in the Constitution Square watched over by an honorary and permanent guard.
Since 1932, the Monument of the Unknown Soldier has dominated Constitution Square. The honorary and permanent guard of the monument is entrusted to the elite special military and ceremonial unit which, from 1974, was named Presidential Guard. Also known as Evzones, they are read out every hour according to a very characteristic ritual that has attracted the interest of tourists and Greeks alike. The most spectacular changeover takes place every Sunday.
