Temple with a large staircase with 2 ionic colonnades with authentic friezes.

On the right, going up the great staircase. The work was most probably undertaken in 421 BC, under Pericles. Completed in 412 BC, the temple consists of two Ionic colonnades on the east and west façades. The frieze on the west side depicts the assembly of the twelve gods watching the battles between the Athenians and the Persians as well as the battles between the Greek soldiers, which are depicted on the other three friezes of the building. Only the representations on the eastern frieze are authentic, the others being on display in the British Museum.
