The first pharmacy in Athens was built by S. Krinos, a pharmacist himself, in 1855. In 1923, Mr. Kassimatis, a Greek from Istanbul, bought the building and transformed it into the largest pastry shop in the city. Since then, in this emblematic building of Aiolou Street, one can still taste the famous doughnuts whose recipe remains a secret. Other Anatolian pastries, such as bougatsa, are served as well as some savoury puffs. Everything is homemade and the doughnuts are prepared before the customer's eyes.
