MARITIME MUSEUM OF GREECE
This museum details the evolution of shipbuilding, maritime trade and the navy over three millennia.
Founded in 1949, this museum (Ναυτικό Μουσείο της Ελλάδος/Naftiko Mousio tis Ellados) is housed in a circular building opposite the chic Zea marina. It houses 2,500 objects (amphorae, weapons, compasses, models, paintings, maps...) and details through ten rooms the evolution of shipbuilding, maritime trade and the navy over three millennia. It's fascinating stuff, and children will love playing with the Papanikolis submarine's periscope. Unfortunately, the presentation is not always very well done.
