VINEYARDS PAPAÏOANNOU
Founded in 1876, this winery (Αμπελουργία Παπαϊωάννου/Ambelourgia Papaïoannou) is the originator of the Nemea PDO, created in 1971. Today, the Papaïoannou family produces exclusively organically on 57 ha around the archaeological site of ancient Nemea. In the Archea Nemea cellar, you can taste wines made from thirteen grape varieties, including agiorgitiko (red) and roditis (white) from the Peloponnese. Malagousia, an old white grape variety rediscovered in the 1970s and similar to the ancient Monemvassia malvasia, is a must-try.
