This cathedral (Ιερός Μητροπολιτικός Ναός Αγίου Γεωργίου/Ieros Mitropolitikos Naos Agiou Georgiou) dates back to the 16th century and was twice converted into a mosque. Restored as an Orthodox church in 1822, it hosted the coronation of Otto of Bavaria as King of Greece on January 15, 1833. It houses the king's first throne and an 18th-century fresco imitating the Last Supper, painted by da Vinci in Milan in 1498. Concerts on the square in summer during the Nafplio Festival.
