A large, beautiful and little-visited site housing the remains of the sanctuary of Hera, the patron goddess of the ancient city of Argos.
Enjoying beautiful scenery, this little-visited site (Αρχαιολογικός Χώρος Ηραίου Άργους/Archaiologikos Choros Iraiou Argous) houses the remains of a vast sanctuary of Hera, patron goddess of the ancient city of Argos. Built from the 8th century BC onwards, the complex preserves the foundations of two temples, ramparts, porticoes, a Hellenistic gymnasium and Roman baths. According to legend, it was here that Agamemnon launched the war against Troy.
