A superb setting, on a peninsula, and a well laid-out course, but few remains apart from sections of ancient walls.
This site (Αρχαιολογικός Χώρος Ασίνης/Archaiologikos Choros Asinis) enjoys a well-developed course and a superb setting, on the small peninsula of Kastraki. Although the area has been inhabited since Neolithic times, the remains of the ancient city of Asinè are rare: sections of powerful walls erected mainly around 300 BC. Inhabitants of the Mycenaean period dug 18 large tombs on the Barbouna hill, slightly to the north-west.
