THE 140 CELLARS OF SAINT-JULIEN
Cellars in the picturesque village of Montaigut-le-Blanc, a local heritage curiosity.
This winegrowing village adjoining Montaigut is the place for a picturesque stroll along the cellar road. They were initially intended for the storage of local wine. They were then used for the maturing of Saint-Nectaire cheese. At the beginning of the 19th century, the Auvergne vineyards were affected by phylloxera. Some of the cellars were therefore no longer used, while others were used for maturing cheese. There are 140 of them and they are a curiosity of the local heritage.
