This 2nd-century Roman theater (Αρχαίο Θέατρο Γυθείου/Achaio Theatro Gythiou) backs onto the ancient acropolis of Gythion and retains eight marble rows, out of the original fifteen. Rediscovered in 1891, it is used for summer performances. Nearby are other remains of the ancient city, including Roman baths and a Paleobyzantine church. The statues and artefacts discovered here are on display at the municipal cultural center (Irakleous 1).
