This 5,600m2 green islet (Κρανάη) has been linked to Gythio by a 150 m-long artificial isthmus since 1998. According to mythology, it was here that Paris and Helen spent their first night of love, just before leaving for Cythera and then Troy. It's a pleasant place to stroll at sunset, with a bar-restaurant, a chapel and the grand Tzannetakis residence (1829), whose mighty square tower houses a museum of Maniote architecture (currently closed). After 400 m, you reach the white marble lighthouse, 23 m high.
