This grocery store (Τροφοπωλειον 51) sells the two great local specialties: Kalamata olives and olive oil, produced on 3,400 ha, some 165,000 kalamon or koroneïki olive trees. The olive is plump and dark purple after 5-6 months in brine. The oil is fruity, with no bitterness or acidity. And both have been protected by a PDO since 1997. Georgios Koutelas offers an interesting selection of both products (with tasting), as well as honey, dried figs, pasteli (sesame cookies)..
