This small museum (Μουσείο της Ιστορίας των Ανασκαφών της Ολυμπίας/Mousio tis Istorias ton Anaskafon tis Olympias) looks back to the discovery of the Olympia site by Briton Richard Chandler in 1766, the first excavations carried out by the Frenchmen Léon Jean Joseph Dubois and Abel Blouet in 1829, and the systematic excavations carried out by the German Archaeological Institute in Athens since 1875.
