This museum (Μουσείο Ιστορίας των Ολυμπιακών Αγώνων της Αρχαιότητας/Mousio Istorias ton Olympiakon Agonon tis Archaiotitas) occupies the neoclassical building (1895) of the German archaeological mission that has been conducting excavations in Olympia since 1875. A fine collection of objects relating to the sporting activities of Greek men and women since Minoan times. The star object here is the strigile, a scraper used to clean the oil-coated skin of athletes.
