NAUPACTE FORTRESS
Well-preserved medieval fortress with views of Naupacte harbor, the Gulf of Corinth and the Rio-Antirio bridge.
This well-preserved 1.3-hectare fortress (Κάστρο Ναυπάκτου/Kastro Nafpaktos) overlooks Naupacte at an altitude of 160m. It was built by the Byzantines, then enlarged by the Venetians between 1407 and 1499. Comprising three fortified terraces, it offers magnificent views of the port, the Gulf of Corinth and the Rio-Antirio bridge. It was completed by walls extending down to the harbor. Some of the walls and forts are still visible throughout the town. Panoramic cafés below, along the access road.
